'Moneyball': The Un-'Natural'

This is the perfect sports movie for these cash-strapped times of efficiency maximization. It's also the best sports movie in a long time, period.

'Love Crime': Actresses bring the ice to inviting criminal caper 'Love Crime' — 3 stars
Icy and inviting caper

The sleek French thriller accomplishes a staggering amount, without much fuss, in its first two minutes.

Humans and dolphins a heartwarming mix 'Dolphin Tale' — 2 1/2 stars
A heartwarming mix

I'll be honest, in the spirit of the honestly shameless heartwarmer "Dolphin Tale." I saw it in a somewhat distracted, agitated state.

'Killer Elite' casualty is truth of reality-based story 'Killer Elite' — 2 stars
Casualty is truth of story

There's some grim diversion in watching Jason Statham, Clive Owen and Robert de Niro kill, kill, kill.

'Restless': Indie film spirit succumbs to cliched plot 'Restless' — 2 stars
Indie spirit, cliched plot

Gus Van Sant moves with notable ease between independent work and crowd-pleasers, bringing elements of the two together.
