Why we're not in Syria

Last year, the Obama administration surprised the world by electing to use military force in Libya. It turned out well (damage to the rule of law aside), and it established a precedent, in some minds, for intervention in Syria -- another place where an anti-American dictator has savagely crushed domestic opponents. But the administration has not moved toward attacking in Syria, and fortunately, it's not likely to.

New York City officials recently delivered a priceless gift to schoolchildren and their parents: They released ratings for about 18,000 public school teachers that showed which ones helped students excel academically and which ones didn't.

And the GOP message is <i>what</i>? And the GOP message is what?

If this puzzling Republican primary campaign keeps on track, President Barack Obama won't have to do anything in the general election campaign. He can just dig into his fortune (which is a vast political fortune by any measure) and sponsor endless rounds of clips of things said by Republicans chasing their dream.
