Illinois auditor slams state agency over $6.6 billion in health-care contracts

The Illinois state auditor has issued a scathing critique of the Department of Healthcare and Family Services and the state’s Executive Ethics Commission, taking the two organizations to task for how $7 billion in contracts were awarded to BlueCross BlueShield and two other providers.

Mayor Rahm Emanuel Wednesday morning unveiled his first formal blueprint for revitalizing the region's economy. The preliminary planning document aims for the sky and hints at how the city will try to get there, but stops short of proposing specific initiatives.
